This Afterburn Grow planting system, as the name suggests, is a Self-Watering Wicking Double Bucket System. Plants in their natural environment will take up water as needed. This is as opposed to human intervention, where plants are watered on a regular basis. Due to the in-system tank and the wicking soil mix, the plant does not need to be watered daily, only the top-up of the tank as needed, is required. This system can maintain plants (depending on their size and watering needs) for a lengthy period of time. In addition, it removes the common overwatering problem experienced by many plant owners.
The Self-Watering Wicking Double Bucket System works by filling a reservoir. The plant is watered from the bottom of the rootzone by means of a wicking action. Other advantages of this system are that there is no water wastage and no loss of nutrients by way of leaching.
The system is made up of a double bucket inter-fitting system with the inner bucket resting inside the outer (and larger) bucket. The space between the buckets forms the reservoir which is then filled with water via a filling tube that provides water to the reservoir. The inner bucket is fitted with a net-cup that protrudes into the reservoir which results in the net-cup being permanently submerged in the water, resulting in a capilliary action and the “wicking” up of the water to the plant rootzone.
The Self-Watering Wicking Double Bucket System comes in two colour options, namely:-
- Black outer and black inner bucket
- Blue outer and black inner bucket
