The Reaper, a hybrid created by Ed Currie of South Carolina, is a cross between the ghost pepper and red habanero. The pepper is red and gnarled, with a bumpy texture and small pointed tail and was dubbed in 2013 as the worlds hottest pepper. Surpassing the Ghost Pepper and Trinidad Scorpion. Other varieties may be spicier, but are not officially confirmed with a Scoville level higher than the Carolina Reaper.
